Paul John Whisky Introduces AArambh, An Exclusive 180-Bottle Single Cask Release

Indian single malt producer Paul John Whisky has unveiled AArambh, an exclusive single cask release created in collaboration with The Cask Circle, Pune's whisky enthusiast community. Limited to just 180 bottles, the release has already achieved a rare distinction in the Indian whisky market, with every bottle allocated before the whisky was even bottled.

Paul John Whisky Introduces AArambh

AArambh has been drawn from Single Cask #20523 and finished in a second rare bourbon cask before being bottled at 50% ABV. The whisky displays a rich copper color and represents one of the most limited Paul John releases launched exclusively for the Indian market.

The launch comes at a time when India's premium whisky segment is experiencing significant growth, driven by collectors, enthusiasts, and whisky clubs that are increasingly seeking unique and limited-edition expressions. Unlike many releases that focus solely on rarity, AArambh was built around a more community-driven approach.

The philosophy behind the release is captured in its tagline, "Chosen. Not Bought." The whisky was independently selected by members of The Cask Circle after nearly two years of discussions, cask evaluations, and planning. The result is a single cask bottling that reflects the preferences and collective vision of a dedicated whisky community rather than a traditional commercial release.

Paul P. John Talks About The Release

Speaking about the launch, Paul P. John, Chairman of Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky, highlighted the significance of the project. In a press release as per Hospibuz, he said, "AArambh is a word that carries a great deal of meaning for us. Every single cask release we have done has been a beginning of sorts, a new conversation, a new benchmark. But this one feels particularly significant. The fact that 180 bottles found their homes before we had even bottled the whisky tells us something profound about where Indian whisky has arrived. We are no longer just making whisky for the world to discover. We are making whisky that India is proud to collect."

For The Cask Circle, the release represents a milestone in India's growing enthusiast-led whisky culture. Founder Dushyant Bhatia explained that the cask selection process focused on finding a whisky that reflected the evolution of Indian single malts and the increasing sophistication of local whisky drinkers.

She said, "AArambh is the result of nearly two years of discussion, exploration, and deliberation. We were not looking for whisky to sell. We were looking for a whisky that said something about where Indian single malt has arrived and about the kind of whisky culture we want to build in India."

The launch also reflects broader changes taking place within India's whisky landscape. Whisky clubs, tasting societies, and enthusiast communities are expanding beyond traditional metro markets such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru into cities like Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai. As Indian consumers become more engaged with premium spirits, demand for limited releases and collectible bottlings continues to rise.

AArambh also marks the eighth release under Paul John's Indian single cask programe, alongside its duty-free exclusive bottlings. Previous releases have consistently sold out, helping establish a loyal collector base that actively follows the brand's rare and limited-edition expressions.

Summing Up

With all 180 bottles already spoken for, AArambh highlights both the growing maturity of India's single malt market and the increasing influence of enthusiast communities in shaping the future of Indian whisky. For Paul John, it is another step forward in a journey that continues to place Indian single malts on the global whisky map, one cask at a time.
