Sula Vineyards Plans A New Resort At The Chandon Winery Site In Nashik

India’s largest wine company, Sula Vineyards, recently bought the Chandon wine production facility and estate in Nashik. The deal excluded all the brand-related assets and instead included all the building, land, and winemaking infrastructure. Now, the largest wine company has announced that it is planning to open a new resort at the Chandori site. Here’s everything more you must know about this new development.

Sula Vineyards Plans To Open A New Resort

Sula Vineyards' wine tourism business has recently crossed INR 100 crore in revenue. This has happened for the very first time and accounts for a fifth of its total turnover. The head of hospitality, Monit Ravindra Dhavale, has confirmed the plans of opening a resort. He mentioned that they might very soon announce it.

Sula recently acquired the Chandon winery from LVMH’s Moët Hennessy after the French luxury group had to exit India. The reason behind its exit was underperformance. The location is very beneficial, with it being near to MIDC investments by Reliance Life Sciences and Godrej. The air connectivity is also very good with routes operating to Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Nashik.

The vineyards will also soon move to the newly acquired former Chandon tasting facility. Within weeks of statutory handover, people might soon get to see a gift shop, a bottle shop, and a tasting room with a resort to follow soon.

A World-Class Facility In Nashik

The CEO and Founder of Sula Vineyards, Rajeev Samant, said they viewed the acquisition of Chandon as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as it is a world-class facility. The estate is located in Dindori in Maharashtra’s Nashik district. It has a capacity of 450,000 litres per year with five acres of vineyard and a visitor centre. This capacity can also be expanded to a whopping 1.3 million litres.

The financial terms of the deal are still under wraps. But Chandon will stop the production of wine once the deal is completed. All the wine that is produced in this estate will be sold under Sulave Vineyards’ label. The portfolio for the same includes The Source, Dindori Reserve, and Rasa.

The Haven By Sula: How Sula Vineyards Is Expanding Into Hospitality

The wine tourism business of Sula Vineyards has crossed the annual INR 100 crore mark for the first time. Sula continues to lead the market as it holds 50 percent of the Indian wine sector.

Its vineyards receive over 4,000 visitors every year and remain one of the most visited vineyards in the world. The launch of new properties is also expected to contribute to this revenue and add to the overall growth strategy positively.

Sula Vineyards’ newest property, Haven By Sula, was sold out through most of the high season (October to February). The largest reason behind this has been premium weddings. This new property started in 2024 with a non-negotiable wine purchase requirement, which is maintained across all the Sula properties.

Summing Up

With its revenue crossing a huge mark already, Sula Vineyards is all set to come up with a new property at the Chandon winery. The plan has been confirmed by the concerned authorities, and we are excited about the same. While they plan the new resort, let us know if you have ever visited Sula Vineyards and what your experience has been!
