WIID 2026: Indian Brands Gain Ground As Picante Tops India’s Cocktail List

The fourth edition of What India Is Drinking (WIID 2026)was recently published. This comprehensive survey revealed everything, from the top alcoholic brands that India loves to the most loved cocktails across the country. The data for this survey was collected from around 155 bars across 18 cities in the country. This shows a 24 percent increase in interest compared to last year, as respondents included bar owners as well. Furthermore, a total of 527 brands were mentioned by the respondents of the survey across 21 categories of spirits, as well as zero-proof beverages and mixers.

WIID 2026: What Indian Brands Ranked In The Report?

In the Indian premium whisky category, the top spot was claimed by Woodburns. It has managed to dethrone Oaksmith, which was the number one last year. Godawan also featured in the Indian single malt category at the second spot. It managed to overtake whisky brands like Paul John and Amrut. 

On the list of rum, Camikara, the Indian rum, managed to bag the third spot on the list of most loved rum brands. It beat brands like Diplomático, Flor de Caña, and Havana Club. For the category of Agave-based spirits, Don Julio bagged the top spot, and the brand Pistola ranked sixth, which was the only Indian brand on the list.

The category of gin was a different story entirely. Many of the brands occupying the top spots on the list were Indian. To give you an idea, Hapusa ranked fifth on the list, which also included brands like Greater Than, Stranger & Sons, and Jaisalmer.

The report also features the ten most loved cocktails in India. Picante bagged the top spot. Here are India’s top ten favorite cocktails, as per the WIID 2026 report:

Summing Up

The third edition of WIID proved to be quite insightful. It shows how rapidly the homegrown spirits of India are gaining popularity. It is also useful in understanding the drinking habits and preferences of Indian consumers. It is hoped that the growth of Indian homegrown spirits continues to retain its momentum.
