Well, that is exactly what actor Sanjay Dutt’s restaurant Alta Stella offers you. Perched on the 30th floor, Alta Stella is the newest high-rise spot that is trending on social media for all the right reasons. unsobered walked into this new place in the town to give you a review to help you decide whether or not you should consider it for your next weekend party.
Alta Stella is a beautiful rooftop restro-bar by Sanjay Dutt and Abhimanyu Jakhar located in Mumbai’s Andheri. The restaurant is located on the 30th floor, offering mesmerizing views of the Mumbai skyline, and is spread across 12,000 square feet. It can easily accommodate up to 250 guests at a time. Though the venue is very large, the space has a very cozy vibe to it, making you feel comfortable instantly.
The restro-bar is a constellation-themed with its name “Alta Stella” translating to “closest to the star.” Here, the early evenings are naturally lit and calm, while the nights offer a relaxed dining vibe with the night skyline view. The transition feels a lot more natural rather than staged with a shift in its music, lighting, and vibe.

Talking about its design, the resto bar ditches the regular open rooftop idea. Doing justice to their constellation theme, Alta Stella’s interiors have designs that are inspired by stars, along with earthy textures. The ceiling visually extends into a night sky, as you can see stars twinkling with a shooting star appearing time and again. Sculpted lighting, celestial motifs, and star patterns teleport you into a world of cosmos.
The seats are comfortable with small mushroom lights that bring in the candlelight experience during the night. The seating sections are divided into three to four sections, so based on your group size and vibe, you can choose any one of them. We had opted for the skyline view side, and trust us, sitting and dining there while looking at the mesmerizing Mumbai skyline felt simply amazing.

Actor and film producer Sanjay Dutt has a connection with this restro-bar in Mumbai. No, we don’t mean the “co-founder” connection; the connection is more deeply rooted than it can be seen. His involvement in this palace is more than just a co-founder; it is in the atmosphere as Sanjay Dutt has shared a part of his personal journey as an actor.
From sets to paparazzi, Sanjay Dutt’s life as an actor has always been filled with chaos and noise. This has made him value and appreciate the spaces that bring in calmness and peace. Alta Stella, according to Sanjay Dutt, houses exactly that same feeling. You’re up close to the sky, you see the stars above, and everything just slows down. He believes that the place has a quiet strength, and that is what makes this place more special for him.
Similarly, co-founder Abhimanyu Jakhar said that the launch of Alta Stella includes his personal belief. He believes that when you are in a peaceful space, under the stars, you tend to look inward. So at Alta Stella, the idea of being “closest to the stars” is not about the grandeur or the height of the restro-bar; it is more about a space where guests can center themselves.
While designing the space, they knew they wanted to create an experience where the sky is a part of the journey. They wanted the design to look as if it were being guided by the universe with constellations, lighting, and atmosphere.

When you arrive at the bar, you are given a personalized horoscope card with moon water and chocolate to create a cosmic mood. The ritual of moon water and chocolate actually creates a positive manifestation. Let's take a look at some of the zodiac cocktails.
Capricorn: This cocktail is beautifully structured, offering a mix of the disciplined and ambitious nature of the sign. It is known to be smooth and strong, just like the sun sign.
Sagittarius: This cocktail is known as “The Wounded Healer”; this drink has a very warm and smooth profile. It is made by blending smoked cardamom into agave. It is served in a huge tray with sand and smoke, bringing in a theatrical experience.
Aries: “Fire does not negotiate. It surges.” This is exactly how the bartender will describe the drink to you. This fiery, bold drink is made using ginger, lime, smoked whisky, and a tinge of honey to balance.
Taurus: This drink is designed to be bold, balanced, and crowd-pleasing to match the nature of the sign.
Aquarius: This innovative drink is inspired by the “first rain on the earth,” offering clean, avant-garde flavors.
We tried the Capricorn and Sagittarius ones as per our zodiac signs, and honestly, we could easily resonate with them! They felt exactly what our zodiac adjectives were, and we can say that the team honestly did a fab job at understanding and converting every zodiac sign into a drink.

The restro-bar has two menus, one is the Jain menu and the other is its regular menu. There is no physical menu offered here; you have to scan a code that is available on every table to get your menu on WhatsApp.
Their regular menu is divided further into categories like Sanjay Dutt Specials, Small Plates, Little Extras, Cold Bar, Dim Sum, Sushi, Flatbreads, Italian Comfort, The Kulcha Collection, and Plates That Hug.

We started the evening with a couple of appetizers like Truffle Fries and Wok Tok Paneer. Both the dishes lived up to our expectations as the fries were properly crisp while the Wok Tok Paneer was perfectly fried and seasoned, just like they should be.

Next up, we tried Chicken Coriander Dimsum, and these green little pockets have my heart. The chicken filling was properly seasoned and cooked, while the wrappers of the dimsums were steamed to perfection.

For the finale, we chose Tangra Egg Fried Rice, which is basically smoky Wok-tossed rice. (For people who do not have an idea, Wok-tossed is a cooking technique in which ingredients are rapidly stir-fried over high heat in a round-bottomed pan.) It had a nice, punchy, distinctive flavor profile defined by the smoky heat of the Wok-tossed technique. The dish offered a umami-rich base from dark soy sauce and garlic.
Our experience at Alta Stella was surely a good one, where more than the food, the ambience, interiors, and the concept stole our hearts. Their zodiac cocktail programme was clearly the cherry on the cake, with well-curated cocktails and presentation.
