Om Palace Review: The Bar We Didn't Plan To Visit But Ended Up Enjoying

Bar hopping in Mumbai rarely goes exactly as planned; sometimes you won't find a table, won't like the vibe, or just have to wait too long to enter; however, the city of Mumbai has you covered. We recently headed out to visit Liberty La Classique, only to find ourselves standing outside a completely different establishment. After a bit of confusion and a quick reality check, we discovered that Liberty La Classique is currently under renovation and has temporarily shifted operations to a new venue called Om Palace.

What started as a backup plan quickly turned into an unexpectedly pleasant evening, as Om Palace, which sits in a slightly more premium category than your average neighborhood bar, offers a space that feels equally suited for family dinners, casual get-togethers, and leisurely evenings over drinks.

First Impressions: More Palace Than Bar

The name "Palace" doesn't feel like an exaggeration here, as every corner of the venue feels designed to create a more upscale atmosphere than what you might typically associate with a local Mumbai bar.  The interiors lean heavily into gold accents, polished finishes, and a striking bar counter that immediately commands attention.

One detail we particularly enjoyed was the Italian-style outdoor seating area. The tables sit close enough to the road to give you that familiar Mumbai street-side energy while still feeling comfortable and well-designed. It's the kind of setup that encourages you to sit back, order another round, and spend a little longer than originally planned.

Most guests seemed to be above 50, and honestly, we loved seeing it. Something is refreshing about watching older friends getting together, enjoying themselves, catching up with friends, and making the most of their evening. The atmosphere felt mature, relaxed, and completely free from the loud party energy that dominates many modern bars.

The Menu Is Absolutely Massive

The selection stretches across multiple cuisines and categories, offering enough variety to satisfy almost any craving. The moment we spotted sizzlers on the menu, we knew this wasn't your typical local bar setup. Places that serve everything from bar snacks to elaborate main courses usually have bigger ambitions, and Om Palace certainly seems to fit that description. Whether you're dropping in for drinks, a family dinner, or a full meal with friends, the menu provides more than enough options to keep everyone happy.

What Unsobered Ordered

For food, we kept things fairly straightforward and ordered:

  • Veg Clear Soup
  • Mongolian Paneer
  • Onion Spring Roll

The Veg Clear Soup worked well as a light opener and delivered exactly what you'd expect from a comforting bowl of soup. The Mongolian Paneer brought the stronger flavours to the table and ended up being one of the more memorable dishes of the evening. It offered a good balance of spice and richness without becoming overwhelming. The Onion Spring Roll rounded things off nicely, providing the crispy, snackable element that always works well alongside drinks and conversation.

Who Is Om Palace For?

The atmosphere feels more suited to family dinners, celebrations, relaxed catch-ups, and even date nights rather than loud weekend parties. Everything from the interiors to the crowd creates a sense of comfort and familiarity. It feels like a venue where people come to spend quality time together rather than simply move from one drink to the next. That positioning gives the bar its own identity and helps it stand apart from many of Mumbai's trend-driven drinking spots.

Why Om Palace Stands Out

We arrived looking for Liberty La Classique and ended up discovering a venue that felt significantly more polished and premium than anticipated. The grand interiors, mature crowd, extensive food menu, and charming outdoor seating all contribute to an experience that feels surprisingly versatile. It works as a family restaurant, a neighborhood bar, a dinner destination, and a comfortable place to unwind over drinks.

Summing Up

Om Palace wasn't the bar we originally planned to review, but it ended up being a pleasant surprise nonetheless. Between the palace-inspired interiors, extensive menu, relaxed atmosphere, and crowd that knows how to enjoy a good evening out, the venue offers a different experience from many of Mumbai's more conventional bars. If you're looking for a place that's comfortable, spacious, and equally suitable for drinks, dinner, or a family outing, Om Palace is worth adding to your list.
