Bowmore have launched a limited edition festive gift pack for Diwali 2026, inspired by the traditional Kalamkari art of India. The pack is a celebration of Indian craftsmanship and the distillery's Islay roots and is a perfect gift for the traveller. It's a collectible presentation of the Bowmore 14 Year Old.
The Bowmore Kalamkari Diwali is available at a number of duty free outlets at airports, with promotional activity planned across India and at a number of international travel retail locations. The packaging is new but the whisky inside is the standard Bowmore 14 Year Old.

The biggest change is the packaging. The Bowmore 14 Year Old Kalamkari gift pack has a great deal of Kalamkari artwork on it (inspired by the traditional Indian hand drawn and block printed Kalamkari designs). It's very colourful with a lot of texture and some nice gold detail which gives it a real festive feel. It's still very much in the Bowmore Scottish tradition of course.
One of the key motifs is the Kalamkari peacock, representing celebration, protection and good fortune and Bowmore's own sea dragon in a very traditional Indian artistic style. The packaging features illustrations of the distillery and of the No.1 Vaults maturation warehouse, as well as various fruits and spices which are indicative of the flavour of the whisky.
Rather than launching a new whisky, Bowmore are simply producing a special presentation for the festive gifting season. The 360 degree packaging brings together the classic Bowmore imagery with some Indian artistry.

The whisky in the Bowmore festive gift pack is the Bowmore 14 Year Old. This is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky and it's part of the Appellations range which was launched in 2024. The range is a travel retail exclusive and was created as a way of looking at the links between Bowmore's whisky making heritage and the wine regions of the world.
Bowmore 14 Year Old is matured initially in American oak ex-bourbon casks and then finished in hand selected Bordeaux wine barriques. Bottled at 43% ABV it has the characteristic Bowmore smokiness with the addition of orchard fruit and berry sweetness from the wine cask finish.
The Bowmore Diwali 2026 is the same whisky as the regular Bowmore, same maturation. The limited edition status is purely down to the Kalamkari packaging. There's no different age statement, no different cask, no different ABV.

The Bowmore airport duty free campaign will be running at three major international airports. The limited edition gift pack will be available through a number of travel retail locations, with different experiences in place for the traveller.
A specially curated chocolate box is also available as a gift with purchase at the participating activations. The availability of the limited edition pack and the various promotions however may vary from airport to airport and retailer to retailer.

Kalamkari is a traditional Indian textile art form involving hand drawn and hand block printed designs. The patterns are very decorative, the designs are very story oriented and the motifs are very intricate. It's very much a form of art that would be ideal for festive packaging.
For Bowmore the design is a bridge between Indian liquor craftsmanship and the distillery's Scottish heritage. The peacock and the sea dragon are the two elements that bring the Indian and the Scottish together, and the distillery and maturation warehouse illustrations are obviously rooted in the whisky's own provenance.
