People living in New Delhi can now buy liquor bottles online. The Delhi Liquor Booking app, introduced by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), was designed to streamline liquor purchases and make them more convenient.
However, the app is not as straightforward as it seems. Customers must collect their orders within 48 hours, there is no option for home delivery, and only select outlets participate in this system. The app has also sparked controversy between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
With the Delhi Liquor Booking app, customers can browse different liquor brands, select the bottle size and quantity, choose a store, and pay online. This allows them to check if a bottle is available before going out, instead of visiting multiple stores.
Currently, the service is available at 208 DSIIDC liquor outlets in Delhi. Although four government corporations operate more than 700 liquor stores in the city, only DSIIDC stores have this booking option. Officials say the goal is to reduce lines, ease crowding at payment counters, and make billing more transparent.

Customers can use the service through the Android app by registering with their mobile number. Once signed up, they can browse brands, select bottle sizes and quantities, choose a DSIIDC store, and complete their purchase online.
After payment, the app generates a QR code. The customer goes to the store and shows this code to the staff, who scan it before handing over the bottles. Customers can select and pay in advance, but they still have to pick up their orders in person.

Customers must collect their liquor in 48 hours of having paid online. If it's not collected at that time it can be cancelled. You can cancel your booking prior to collection but once the bottles have been sold or collected they can't be returned or exchanged.
You must be 25 years and above to use this service as per Delhi excise rules. The normal purchase limits apply, 9 litres of whiskey and 18 litres of beer per person. If you'd like to place a larger order, it's always best to check excise rules before doing so.

No, the Delhi Liquor Booking app doesn't offer any home delivery service. While you can book and pay for it online, you must still travel to the outlet itself and pick up your booze, and you must do so within 48 hours. The current DSIIDC app does not have home delivery though. The app is simply there to make it easier to buy from the government stores that are part of the scheme.
The introduction of the app has led to sparks flying between BJP and AAP, as the opposition party has been fairly vocal on their stance, calling the government out on focusing on alcohol sales more than healthcare or infrastructure.
DSIIDC officials have clarified that the project was approved in December 2024, work orders were issued in January 2025, when AAP was in power and the service actually commenced in November 2025.

The Delhi Liquor Booking app makes it easy to check stock, reserve bottles, and pay online before going to a government liquor store. Customers must be at least 25 years old, collect their orders within 48 hours, and use one of the 208 DSIIDC outlets. The government states that it'll reduce queues and improve transparency but the political wrangling over it has certainly raised questions.
